FAQs for you
What is Dingopilot? What can it provide?
Dingopilot, an intelligent driving assistant, powered by openpilot, is a hardware product that can be installed without damaging the original car and upgrade the traditional gasoline-powered vehicle of the L2 driving assistant system.
The openpilot system (OP) is an open-source driving assistance system developed by CommaAl.
Dingopilot can optimize and upgrade the driving-assist experience of your original car. The optimized functions include:
- Adaptive cruise
- Lane-keeping
- Automatic lane change with turn signal
- Stop & Go
- Deviating lane reminder
The OP system equipped by Dingopilot can significantly improve the driving experience of gasoline-powered vehicles with the advanced Al algorithm and Al model.
What kind of utility function does dingopilot provide?
Powered by openpilot, an AI neural network and vision system, combined with the original vehicle's radar, dingopilot offers a superior Level 2 autonomous driving experience.
By automatically controlling steering, acceleration, and braking, dingopilot significantly improves road recognition, route planning, and adaptive cruise control compared to traditional, rule-based systems.
The experience and accuracy of Dingopilot longitudinal control at low speed are also far better than that of the stock car.
In summary, there are several excellent practical functions:
1. Some original cars do not have a horizontal steering wheel control function (only press line reminder auxiliary correction function), Dinggo can be upgraded to add a horizontal control function, free hands.
2. Although some cars have stock lateral direction control, the experience of road identification and driving planning is poor, and dingopilot can enhance the horizontal control experience.
3. In the longitudinal control of the car at low speed on urban roads, such as the acceleration and deceleration of the throttle and brake, the original car experience is poor, but dingopilot can achieve a better experience.
Will installing a dingopilot damage my car?
Not at all.
There's no need to alter your car's existing wiring or structure when installing Dingopilot. It is completely non-invasive and does not require any wire cutting.
Installation is simple and can be done by yourself.

Does Dingopilot provide a resume from stop?
It depends...
Dingopilot offers enhanced performance for vehicles with existing ACC queue assist capabilities.
For Toyota models without full-speed range ACC, an SDSU upgrade may be an option.
To get the most accurate information for your specific vehicle, please check the Compatibility page to get more. Please consult our customer service for more details.
Do I need to hold the steering wheel after installing dingopilot?
You can leave the steering wheel alone.
However, please be sure to note that Dingopilot provides Level 2 assisted driving, the driver MUST always pay attention to the road conditions and take over the vehicle at any time!!!
I already have stock ACC, why should I install dingopilot?
Stock ACC is technically conservative and backward due to various considerations. It uses traditional algorithms and rules, poor road adaptability, and poor acceleration/braking/corner driving experience.
Dingopilot quips openpilot system, which adopts the most advanced end-to-end local AI model to achieve stable automatic driving, self-adapting to road conditions, acceleration/braking/curves/no-lane-lines, and other conditions, and has better adaptability.
Powered by openpilot, dingopilot's driving monitoring is humanized, not to frequently prompt you to hold the steering wheel but to detect the driver's eyes paying attention to the road, and there is a clear sound warning that the auxiliary driver is effective and ineffective.

Does dingopilot support Chinese brand cars?
No, it does not yet.
Dingopilot equips openpilot system. Currently, its official file about supported cars doesn't include Chinese domestic brand cars such as BYD, Haval, Geely, Aion, and many other local brands of China.
Therefore, dingopilot does not support Chinese domestic brand cars for the moment.
For more supported makes and models, please check the compatibility page.
Which cars are not supported yet?
1. If your car was produced before 2016, it's probably not supported.
As dingopilot is powered by openpilot, it uses the existing steering, gas, and brake interfaces in your car. If your car lacks any one of these interfaces, openpilot will not be able to control the car. If your car has ACC(Adaptive Cruise Control) and any form of LKAS( Lane Keep Assist system)/ LCA(Lane Change Assist), then it almost certainly has these interfaces. These features generally started shipping on cars around 2016.
2. If your car does not have ACC, it's probably not supported.
Because there is no ACC function in your car, there is no corresponding interface to transmit the signal of vehicle driving data to the OP system equipped with dingopilot and optimize the driving data with AI model algorithm, to achieve the upgrade of the driving assistant experience.
3. Dingopilot does not support Chinese domestic brand cars for the moment.
Domestic brands of Chinese cars such as BYD, Haval, Geely, Aion, and other brands of models, currently are not supported. Because the official documents about supported cars have not yet announced the compatibility of Chinese domestic brand models.
openpilot can support many more cars than it currently does, and we pay attention to the compatibility with the Chinese domestic car brand models. You can leave your contact info ( email/mobile/ Wechat ID), and we will inform you when OP has verified that it can support domestic models in the future.
4. Dingopilot does not support cars with Toyota Security System 3.0 (TSS3.0)!
Because dingopilot is powered by openpliot, and openpilot does not yet support some of Toyota's new models with TSS3.0 due to a new message authentication method. Specifically, it is necessary to extract the unique keys( Toyota ECU Security key, TSK) of those vehicles in order to communicate with OP. Not all vehicles can extract the keys.
Known vehicles with Toyota ECU Security Key(TSK) on the Forward Recognition Camera which OP does not currently support:
- Toyota RAV4 Prime 2021+
- Toyota Sienna 2021+
- Toyota Venza 2021+
- Toyota Sequoia 2023+
- Toyota Tundra 2022+
- Toyota Highlander 2024+
- Toyota Corolla Cross 2022+ (only US model)
- Toyota Camry 2025+
- Lexus NX 2022+
- Toyota bZ4x 2023+
- Subaru Solterra 2023+
5. Our shop does not yet support Hyundai models.
Due to the varied harness connectors of Hyundai models, our store currently can not support Hyundai models.
Please note that OP system can support many Hyundai models, you can see the compatibility page to learn about the specific models. Only because of the limited production of our store, we are not yet able to provide varied Hyundai harness connectors.
You can leave your contact info ( email/mobile/ Wechat ID), and we will inform you when OP has verified that it can support domestic models in the future.
6. Makes such as Mercedes Bens and BMW do not support currently!
As dingopilot equips openpilot, all the cars that openpilot supports use a CAN bus for communication between all the car's computers, however, a CAN bus isn't the only way that the computers in your car can communicate.
Most, if not all, vehicles from the following manufacturers use FlexRay instead of a CAN bus: BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Land Rover, and some Volvo.
These cars may one day be supported, but the open-source team seems they have no immediate plans to support FlexRay.
You can leave your contact info ( email/mobile/ Wechat ID), and we will inform you when OP has verified that it can support domestic models in the future.
Which cars can be retrofitted?
- Models of Toyota and Lexus which is with TSS ( Toyota Security System).
- Models of Honda and Accura include stock ACC ( Adaptive Cruise Control) and LKA ( Lane Keep Assistance).
- Mazda vehicles with stock ACC and LKA.
- Models of Audi / Volkswagen / Skoda which is with stock ACC and LKA.
Dingopilot supports 250+ makes of models, please check the compatibility page to get more information. Any questions, please reach out to our customer service.
